The summer seems to have flown past without there having been a summer, however plenty growth has ensued requiring lots of attention. The amount of work needed to keep this growth in check is growing and it has highlighted the need for recruiting more volunteers. Grace has kindly created a flyer to try and generate some much needed assistance see the following:-
Volunteers urgently needed to help clear paths, strimming and barrowing would be greatly appreciated. Dockens topped and removed to the dump. All tools provided.
Rewards in the form of tea and biscuits and the pleasure of being one of the wild bunch who try to keep the garden from disappearing back to a green swampy jungle.
The pond and stream also need urgent attention to remove some of the summer growth before it engulfs the entire space.
This year has seen a phenomenal spurt in growth of wild grasses plus dockens due to the hot weather in June and the unbelievable downpours in July. While the grasses are beautiful to behold and feed the birds and wildlife we try to keep a happy medium to gain access to all parts of the garden. Nature is so prolific in her provision of new growth everywhere.
If wild flowers are your preference we have these too. There are at least 3 areas which provide splashes of colour throughout the year but they too are swamped by invasive grasses.
To sum up – any part of an hour or any time at all working at the wild garden would be welcomed.
