Seasonal Dishes is a year-long project with Ceramicist Hilary Duncan and Val Buchanan of Buchanans Bistro. Throughout the year, Hilary will hold Ceramics and Drawing classes for all ages. We will look at the food we eat, particularly in the context of what we can grow locally and the sustainability of what we choose in our diets. Everyone who attends a class will make a bowl or vessel out of clay, which Hilary will glaze and fire in her kiln at home. Buchanans Bistro will prepare a meal for each season, and all those who have taken part in the classes will be invited to share the meal, and their stories, eating from the bowl they have made.
Meals will be held as close as possible to the equinoxes and the longest and shortest days.
The first blocks of classes will be held in February, with the meal on Thursday 20th March.
The second blocks of classes will be held in April/May/June with the meal on Wednesday 25th June.
The third blocks of classes will be held in July and August, with the meal on Wednesday 24th September.
The fourth blocks of classes will be held in October/November, with the meal on Wednesday 17th Dec.
